HENRY BIANCHINI - born 1935
Henry Bianchini came to Hawaii in 1969. Since settling here, he has distinguished himself internationally as a sculptor, painter, craftsman and prolific, all around artist. Earning several State Foundation on Culture and the Arts commissions, as well as numerous other corporate commissions and awards. Henry work with a wide variety of materials, including ceramics, bronze, stone, concrete, steel and wood. He has his own foundry, kilns and production studio. His experience includes creating and installing works that are part of overall building and landscape design, (gates, walls, sculptural installations). He has a strong sense of Hawaiian culture and art and an affinity with the early Hawaiian voyagers. Henry originally sailed to Hawaii from Southern California on his self built Trimaran "Island Dancer" in August of 1969, viewing the Mana Ulu eruption from 200 miles at sea as he approached the Island. An experience that left him with a unique sense of place.
